Sam plummeted/fell/crashed to the ground with a loud/sharp/painful thud/sound/crash.

His New Friend
Sam was feeling a little lonely. He wanted to have a new pal to play with. One day, while he was playing in the woods, he spotted something unusual. It was a little animal with colorful fur. Sam slowly walked over to the creature and said, "Hello! What's your title?" The creature smiled and replied Sam, "You can call me Lily!" And so, Sam made a new friend. They spent the rest of the day talking together.
Sam was so happy to have found a new friend. He knew that he and Lily would be great pals forever.
